Homemade Salsa

Ingredients

  • 1 can (15.5-oz) low-sodium black beans
  • 1 can (15-oz) kernel corn
  • 1 package cherry tomatoes (diced)
  • 1 jar (4 oz) roasted red peppers (diced)
  • 8 oz. feta cheese (crumbled)
  • Cilantro (to taste)
  • 1 lime

  • Wooden spoon

Homemade salsa is a perfect snack for those health conscious teens! This salsa recipe is packed full of healthy foods so you know your teen is getting some nutrition with this snack. Serve with baked whole grain tortilla chips or some pita chips! This salsa can be kept in an air-tight container in the fridge and brought out when needed.

Step by Step Instructions

In a large bowl, mix the corn, beans, tomatoes, cheese, cilantro and with the wooden spoon.

Squeeze lime juice on the top.

Stir through then serve.

Notes

Try making your own pita  or flatbread chips. Take a pita or some naan bread, lightly brush with olive oil and cut up into pieces. Broil in the oven or toaster oven for just a few minutes. Cool and then serve with the homemade salsa.
