Personal Pizzas

Ingredients

  • English muffins or bagels cut in half or flat pita bread
  • Spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce or pizza sauce
  • Mozzarella cheese (shredded) or cheese of your choice
  • Toppings of choice

Utensils

  • Pizza pan (or rimmed baking sheet)
  • Cheese grater
  • Spoon

Personal Pizzas are fun to make and eat – as well as being healthy and nutritious! Allowing children to choose the ingredients they want – right from the grocery store to the kitchen – helps them develop knowledge about the ingredients. Pre-measuring ingredients also helps them with numbers and measurements.

Step by Step Instructions

Pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Arrange the pizza “bread” or “crust” onto the pizza pan (or rimmed baking sheet).

Spread the tomato or pizza sauce over top of the pizza crust with a spoon.

Sprinkle cheese on the top of the pizza.

Add the toppings of your choice. Some suggestions include: pepperoni, sausage, ham, green peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, pineapple, onions, zucchini, and spinach.

Bake the pizza until the cheese melts (approximately 10 minutes).

Notes

For the Personal Pizzas, you can also make homemade pizza dough. This is also a fun task for pre-schoolers. You can then make a huge pizza with the dough and allow your child to add the toppings or divide the dough to make personal pizzas.
